DAY 1: MOSHI TO MACHAME CAMP
Our expedition begins with a short briefing at Moshi after which the SUV would take you to Machame Gate from where the trek embarks. You start the Machame Route with first day in the rainforest. After trekking through the rainforest, you reach Machame Camp right at the edge of rainforest at an altitude of 9350ft where you experience your first camp night.
DAY 2: MACHAME CAMP TO SHIRA CAVE CAMP ( 3750M)
We start in morning from Machame Camp and after 4-5 hours of hike reach Shira Cave Camp by noon. Lunch is served at Shira Cave Camp after which there is plenty of time for a nap and to acclimatize your body to the higher altitude surrounding. In the evening there is a little dance and singing by our crew to entertain you, post which dinner is served before you dwell into your respective camps.
DAY 3: SHIRA CAVE CAMP (3750M)- LAVA TOWER (4600M)- BARRANCO CAMP (3995M)
After breakfast at Shira Cave Camp, we trek to a higher altitude at Lava Tower (4600m), where we spent some time and have lunch, and then we decent to the Barranco Camp at 3995m where we spent the night. This itinerary is specially designed to acclimatize your body to altitude as you climb high and sleep at low altitude.
DAY 4: BARRANCO CAMP TO BARAFFU CAMP
Day 4 begins with a hike across Barranco Wall. Barrranco Wall is challenging to climb and you come across the Kissing Stone where the hiking track is so slim that you almost tend to kiss the stone while hiking. After conquering the Barranco Wall, we reach the Karanga Camp at 3995m where we have our lunch. After spending sometime at Karanga Camp, we do a 4 hour trek to our final base camp the Barafu Camp at an altitude of 4673m.
DAY 5: BARAFU CAMP TO UHURU PEAK
At 00:00:00 hours, we make the final push to the summit. It is a 6 hours trek to the peak and each step would take you closer to your destination. Our tour guides would pump your mood by singing local tribal songs all across the trek. We take a break at Stella Point at 5756m and hike further till we reach the mighty Uhuru peak by 6 in the am. After 15-20 minutes of enjoying the conquest, we trek downhill to our base camp at Barafu Camp. At Barrafu, you could take a nap followed by a brunch, post which there is a two hour further decent till High Camp where we spent our night.
DAY 6: HIGH CAMP TO MWEKA GATE
Day 6 is the last day of trekking experience as you make your final decent from High Camp. The first stop is at Mweka Camp where we stop for lunch, and after a further decent of 10 km, which takes around 3 hours, we reach Mweka Gate at 1640m. It is at Mweka Gate where we bid our final good-byes before leaving the Kilimanjaro National Park.
