4 Days Mt. Meru Climbing


Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second most elevated mountain and is considerably more than only a “warm up” trek for Kilimanjaro. Mount Meru is an active however, dormant volcano found north of Arusha in Tanzania.

Day 1: Meriakamba Hut (Full board)

Our drive starts from Arusha to Momela-Gate. After the short enlistment at the Gate our walk will start with full armed officer accompanying us, basically we can see en route the wild creatures including elephants, zebras, and giraffe, monkeys, eland, and regularly elephants along the course. We reach a height of 1500 meters, cover a distance of 10kilometers and the time spent is 4 to 6 hours. We will have dinner and night stay at Miriakamba Hut.

Day 2: Saddle Hut (Full board)

The walk from Miriakamba-Hut to the seat beneath Little Meru covering an elevation of 2514 meters to 3570 meters is a brief day however a precarious trip. The walk will take us gradually along the edge for a breathtaking perspective on the Meru Crater and the noteworthy Ash Cone. We will have a night stay at Saddle Hut.

Day 3: Summit Day (Full board)

We start ahead of schedule at around 1:30 a.m. to climb steeply to Rhino Point and on to Cobra Point (4350m). We take a short and quick drop route through open meadow and blended backwoods, with a chance of seeing untamed life before coming to Momella Gate in the late morning. The returning transfer will be holding up at Momella Gate to pick you to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi.
